As relatives met together and were slavinging over ovens and stoves, and decking out the table with more food than ought to be found under one roof, my mind was consumed with thoughts of gratitude. Not gratitude for a home, or two beautifuly wonderful children, or a lovingly faithful wife. Not thankfulness for my roof, or vehicle, or job. Not even grateful thoughts over the food that was spread before us. Although I am extremely grateful to God for these undeserved pleasures and blessings; it was not this that has been on my mind throughout the day. It is the truth behind this Jeremiah 9:24 “but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”
Thanks be to God that He has made Himself known to me. That He is found of those who do not seek Him.
